Timing An Issue As Nebraska Lawmakers Pass Covid Relief Fund Bill

Nebraska lawmakers give final round approval to a bill that would force Governor Pete Ricketts to apply for 120-million dollars in federal Covid -19 relief funds, but it passed out of the chamber without an emergency clause forcing immediate action from the Executive Branch.

Now, the bill could not go into effect until after March 30th, the deadline to apply for assistance.

The Governor has consistently said Nebraska is not in an emergency, so it doesn't need to apply for emergency funds from Washington.
