The Creighton Women's basketball team advances to the "Elite Eight" of the NCAA Basketball Tournament for the first time in program history with a 76-68 victory over 10th-ranked and third-seeded Iowa State Friday night in Greensboro, N.C.
Creighton, now 23-9, advances to Sunday's Regional Final against No. 1 seed and top-ranked South Carolina in a game that will tip off at 6 p.m. Central and be televised on ESPN.
Sophomore Morgan Maly scored a career-high 21 points to lead the Bluejays.
Another key: Creighton outscored the Cyclones 30-4 in bench points.
South Carolina defeated fifth-seeded North Carolina 69-61 in the first Regional semifinal behind 28 points and 22 rebounds from National Player of the Year candidate Aliyah Boston.
