(Des Moines, Iowa) -- The Des Moines Fire Department is looking for new recruits.
DMFD says it received a record number of calls last year, and they'll be accepting 20 to 30 recruits starting in August. A typical shift for Des Moines firefighters is 24 hours on, 48 hours off. Requirements for applicants include:
- At least 21 years old
- Valid driver's license
- High school diploma or GED
- Able to work in extreme situations
