Second Suspect Charged in Des Moines' First Homicide of the Year

(Des Moines, Iowa) -- Des Moines Police say a second suspect is facing charges in the city's first homicide of the year.

Police say 24 year-old Trishay Thompson died of his wounds on January 27th after having been shot earlier that month.

Officers arrested 25 year-old Sam Sando on Wednesday of last week and charged him with 1st Degree Murder. On Monday, the Des Moines Police Department announced that a second suspect, 22 year-old Salifou Sahr, has been charged with Thompson's murder as well. Sahr is charged with one count of 1st Degree Murder and two counts of Attempted Murder. He is already in jail in North Dakota on charges unrelated to fatal shooting.

Police say two guns were used during the shooting, and the incident remains under further investigation.
