(Undated) -- Over 60 small towns in Iowa are receiving funds to renovate downtown areas.

The grants are worth a total of about $20-million and are being awarded in increments between $100,000-$600,000. Over 90 towns applied for the funding, most being given to convert or renovate second-story apartments seen across Iowa on small town squares. One of the larger projects receiving one of the American Rescue Plan Act grants is a Winterset former high school being converted into senior housing.

Dyersville, Independence, and Reinbeck are all receiving the max of $600,000. The towns of Washington, Waverly, Toledo, Tripoli, Farley, Decorah, and Belle Plaine are all receiving $300,000. A full list of the 61 approved towns can be found by clicking here.
