(Ankeny, IA) -- The Ankeny Police Department is releasing the name of the four-year-old girl shot and killed Monday. Police identify the shooting victim as Savannah Holmes.
Police say Holmes suffered a gunshot wound in a home in the 900 block of NE 5th Street on Monday just before noon. She was taken from the home to a hospital where she died from her injuries.
Police are not yet saying who fired the shot or who owned the gun. No charges have been announced. Police say they're still investigating.
Ankeny is a suburb about 15 miles north of Des Moines.
