(Iowa City, Iowa) -- The Iowa City Police Department is warning the public about a scam targeting small businesses.
Police say in each case, someone claiming to be a federal agent called a store employee and told them they'd be arrested unless they put money on a prepaid card. The scammer would then provide the card information.
Police say no federal agency will demand money by phone and recommend hanging up immediately if you receive this call.
