The fire department says a man wanted for escape is arrested at the scene of an apartment fire in Omaha that remains under investigation.
Firefighters were called to the area of Park Avenue and Shirley Street Wednesday afternoon and quickly extinguished the fire, but investigators say 30- year old Tyler Williams jumped from the top floor of the three story building, ran from the scene, collapsed, and was taken to a hospital.
Investigators say he was then arrested, booked on a warrant for escape from the Community Corrections Center -Omaha, which happened last week.
The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services says Williams is serving time for possession with intent to deliver meth and possession of a deadly weapon by a felon/fugitive out of Douglas County.
He started his sentence on November 14th, 2018, six to 12 years with a parole eligibility date in late July and a tentative release date of July 23rd, 2025.
The fire was contained to one apartment unit.
No other injuries were reported.
