(Iowa City, Iowa) -- An Iowa City Community School District student is competing for the title of "America's Top Young Scientist."
Shanza Sami is one of ten finalists in this year's 3M Young Scientist Challenge. The competition is for students in 5th grade through 8th grade who use science to improve their local communities and beyond. Shanza developed a modification to catalytic converters to reduce pollution.
Shanza and the nine other finalists will compete for a $25,000 grand prize October 17th and 18th.
