(Cedar Rapids, Iowa) -- A Cedar Rapids teen accused of killing his parents has a court date set.
The trial for 18-year-old Ethan Orton will start October 18th, barring any other delays.
Orton is charged with two counts of murder for killing his mother, 41-year-old Misty Scott Slade, and his father 42-year-old Casey Orton on October 14th, 2021.
Police officers arrived at the home, on Carnaby Drive NE at 2 a.m. that morning and found Orton sitting outside covered in blood.
The officers say he admitted to killing his parents, using a knife to stab both and later an axe on his mother when it appeared she was still alive after the first attack.
Prosecutors informed the judge there are no discussions of a plea deal.
