(Des Moines, IA) -- Central Iowa's rainfall deficit is nearly six inches at this point in 2022, according to the National Weather Service in Des Moines. Meteorologist Brad Small says the deficit is over three inches this summer alone.

Rainfall in the Des Moines area last night ranged from a few tenths of an inch. Windsor Heights, Beaverdale, and areas of east Des Moines received the most. Small says chances for additional rainfall this week appear unlikely. He says temperatures however should be seasonal, with lower humidity.

While the Des Moines area did not receive heavy rain Sunday night, some parts of northern Iowa (Lake Mills, Mason City, Charles City, did pick up at least five inches of rain over the weekend.
