After areas in Central Iowa received anywhere from one inch to over three inches of rainfall over the weekend, severe weather rolled into the central and southern part of the state this morning.

Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for Adair, Dallas, Guthrie, Madison, Warren, Lucas, Marion, Davis, Monroe, Mahaska, Appanoose, and Wapello counties as the storm system moved through central and south central Iowa through 10 am Monday.

Hail up to one inch in diameter was reported in Stuart in Guthrie County, while Winterset and Earlham reported ping pong sized hail in Madison County. Quarter sized hail was reported in Ottumwa.

There's a chance of more scattered storms through early afternoon, then the National Weather Service says it looks to be a dry week heading into Labor Day weekend.
