(Webster County, IA) -- A red-tailed hawk with a broken wing is recovering after being spotted in northern Iowa. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says a woman called after seeing a hawk which would not fly away from a road in Webster County. DNR Park Ranger Eddie Elkin responded, put the bird in a carrier, and took it to a wildlife rehab center. The hawk is now healing at SOAR Raptors rehab facility. It's expected to recover in about four weeks and will then be released.

The DNR shared the story on social media along with this message to Iowans:

If you find injured wildlife, please do not handle the animal yourself - call a licensed wildlife rehabber ASAP. You can find contact info here: https://bit.ly/2JvV5S8
