(Des Moines, IA) -- Drought conditions are worsening in parts of Iowa, even with recent heavy rainfall.
Drought conditions expanded in southeast Iowa over the past week, as well as overall areas of drought in the state getting worse.
Drought Monitor projections predict the drought in Iowa will persist in September and will expand further into southern parts of the state.
According to the U.S. Drought Monitor’s latest report, the worst drought conditions in northwest Iowa remain relatively unchanged.
State crop conditions, on the other hand, have stabilized in the past two weeks after a month of decline.
