(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- 89 eastern Iowa veterans are touring Washington, D.C. Tuesday after Honor Flight 44 took off from the Eastern Iowa Airport Tuesday morning.
The flight left around 7:15 this morning and will returning around 8:30 this evening to a welcome home celebration. In the meantime, the 89 veterans will visit monuments and memorials in the nation's capital. The welcome home ceremony tonight is free and open to the public, and it will include a military band, flag line, and a welcoming from local police and fire departments as the veterans return home.
Airport parking is free for those attending the welcome home ceremony.
