Two Eastern Iowa Officers Recognized for Saving Machete Attack Victim

(Iowa City, IA) -- Two eastern Iowa police officers are being recognized for saving the life of a man who was attacked with a machete.

Iowa City Police Officers Daniel Boesen and Ivan Rossi both received Life Saving Commendations Monday, September 26th. The two responded to a stabbing call on August 14th.

The City of Iowa City released body cam footage of the officers responding to the call.

At the scene, the officers found a man who was losing a lot of blood from a wound on his arm. After applying a tourniquet, the officers carried the man to an ambulance as he was on the verge of losing consciousness. The man went into surgery after being taken to a local hospital.

"Officer Boesen and Rossi's calm and decisive actions in the chaotic scene attributed to saving the victim's life," says Iowa City Police Chief Dustin Liston. "Their actions reflect positively on the Iowa City Police Department and is an example of our commitment to serving the public with courage and compassion."
