(Lincoln, NE) -- The Huskers lose on of their wide receivers to the transfer portal.
Junior New Mexico State transfer Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda announced his decision to enter the transfer portal Tuesday morning, saying it was not an easy decision but that it would be in his best interest to use his two remaining years of eligibility to find a school where he can showcase his abilities, "in the best way possible." He had four catches, for 120 yards, and a touchdown in Nebraska's first game of the season, but has been quiet since then.
Players can enter the transfer portal during these time periods:
- 45-days after the end of the season
- A two-week period in May
- Within 30 days of a head coach being fired mid-season
Garcia-Castaneda’s transfer falls under the last option, with Tuesday marking 30 days since former Head Coach Scott Frost's departure. Garcia-Castaneda will redshirt, since he only played in four games this year.
