(Wright County, IA) -- A driver is accused of ramming an Iowa State Patrol trooper, forcing the cruiser off I-35 into the ditch during a chase in northern Iowa.
The Iowa State Patrol says the trooper tried to pull the SUV over for going more than 100 miles an hour early Wednesday morning, when the chase began.
22-year-old Ahmed Khalif and the trooper both ended up in the ditch with Khalif taking off on foot.
He was captured and is facing multiple requested felony charges:
- OWI
- felony 2nd degree auto theft
- driving without a valid driver’s license
- possession of a controlled substance
- felony eluding
- assault on a peace officer
- possession of a firearm by a felon
- interference with official acts
- reckless driving
The Iowa State Patrol says Khalif also has outstanding arrest warrants in other states.
A post by the State Patrol on Facebook says neither the Trooper nor Khalif was hurt.
