(Iowa) -- Home sales are down across Iowa while home prices continue to rise.
The Iowa Association of Realtors says home sales fell by 23.8% in September, while home prices rose by 13.5%. 3,377 homes sold in September, compared to 4,430 compared to September of 2021. The median sale price in September of this year rose to $225,000 compared to the average price a year ago at $198,208. Interest rates have risen from around 3% to around 7% since the beginning of the year.
Despite the rise in home prices and interest rates, homes are still selling quickly in Iowa, averaging 31 days on the market.
