Man Charged After Cedar Rapids Shooting Injures One

(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- A Cedar Rapids man is facing charges after a shooting in southwest Cedar Rapids. Police were called to the 300 block of Jacolyn Drive SW around 12:30 p.m. today (Tuesday), November 1, 2022, after a report that shots were fired and there were possible injuries.

Officers found a man with what appeared to be a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. 

Police say the person shot told police there had been an argument that became physical before the gunfire.  Officers later arrested 36-year-old Taylor Deres of Cedar Rapids and took him to the Linn County Jail. Deres is facing the following charges:

           -Willful injury

           -Use of a Dangerous Weapon in the Commission of a Crime
