Three Omaha residents arrested in Lincoln for stealing catalytic converters

(Lincoln, NE) -- Three Omaha residents are arrested in Lincoln, accused of stealing catalytic converters.

Lincoln Police say around 10:00 Saturday morning, officers were called to the 1600 block of Otoe on the report of suspicious persons. Police say the caller observed unknown males exiting a silver Honda SUV and checking door handles of vehicles parked in the neighborhood. Investigators say the caller provided a license plate of the Honda, later determined to belong to a 2014 Honda Pilot stolen out of Omaha. LPD says additional officers arrived in the area and located the Honda Pilot at the U-Stop, near 21st and K Street.

Police say when officers arrived, there was one man inside the Pilot, 21 year old Kyaw S. Wah. Investigators say two additional males were located in the store, 22 year old Than Tun, and a 17 year old male. LPD says during a search of the vehicle, a catalytic converter and a reciprocating saw were found. The converter was later determined to be that cut from a 2007 Hyundai Sante Fe in the 2900 block of Plymouth.

The following charges have been filed against the suspects:

  • Than Tun: Theft by Receiving Stolen Property(f), Possession of Burglar Tools(f), Criminal Possession of a Financial Transaction Device(f). Lodged in jail
  • Kyaw Wah: Theft by Receiving Stolen Property(f), Possession of Burglar Tools(f). Lodged in jail.
  • 17 yoa male: Theft by Receiving Stolen Property(f), Possession of Burglar Tools(f). Lodged at the YAC

All three suspects are from Omaha.
