Lincoln police arrest a man they say is responsible for shooting two people on the city's east side on New Year's Day. Police say 36-year-old Frederick Gooch of Lincoln was arrested Sunday evening and charged with first and second-degree assault and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony. Police say Gooch shot a 26-year-old man and a 27-year-old man near North 30th and Vine around 3:00 a.m. Sunday, leaving one of them in critical condition. The other victim has been released from the hospital.
