Repeat drug, firearm offender from Omaha sentenced to 37 years in prison

(Omaha, NE) -- An Omaha man will spend the next 37 years in prison after being a repeat offender on drug and firearm charges.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says 39-year-old Prince Spellman charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, cocaine, and phencyclidine, possessing a firearm for a drug trafficking crime and a felon in possession of a firearm.

An unmarked Omaha Police Department gang detective pulled over Spellman in March 2021 at the McDonald's restaurant parking lot near 30 Taylor Street. The officer found 55 grams of cocaine, 100 blue pills of fentanyl, a vial of PCP and a handgun.

Spellman had prior convictions of robbery, possession of controlled substances, strangulations and criminal impersonation.
