(Omaha, NE) -- An Omaha man is sentenced to more than 30 years in prison for a drunk driving crash that killed two Gretna women and an unborn baby.
On Wednesday, Zachary Paulison was sentenced to 32 years in prison on two counts of motor vehicle homicide as the result of driving under the influence and one count of motor vehicle homicide resulting in the death of an unborn child. The maximum sentence Paulison faced was 43 years in prison.
Police say on March 31, 2022, Paulison was drunk when his pickup truck slammed in an SUV, driven by 37 year old Sarah Zimmerman, at 192nd and F streets. Zimmerman, who was eight months pregnant at the time of the crash, and her friend, 38 year old Amanda Schook, died in the crash. Investigators say when Paulison's truck hit Zimmerman's SUV, he was going over 100 MPH.
Paulison will have to serve at least 16 years, or half of his sentence, in prison.
