Yesterday Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, signed the new school choice law which will mean for the first time, the money we taxpayers spend on education, will in fact follow the child.

“Public schools are the foundation of our education system and for most families they will continue to be the option of choice, but they aren’t the only choice,” Governor Reynolds said before she signed the Students First Act. “For some families, a different path may be better for their children. With this bill, every child in Iowa, regardless of zip code or income, will have access to the school best suited for them.”

It has been a three year fight to get this on the books in Iowa and included the Governor endorsing primary opponents of Republicans who refused to back her plan.

Now that it's law, will your family be using it to change schools?
