Warmer temperatures in the forecast mean meteorologists and emergency managers are keeping a close eye on the Platte River flood risk in eastern Nebraska.
"Certainly over this next week while we're looking at daytime temperatures into the '40's, the risk is elevated for ice jams," Omaha National Weather Service Meteorologist Paul Fajman tells KFAB Radio News.
Right now, the Lower Platte ice jam risk is "Elevated."
Fajman says some snow run off into the river can also contribute to ice movement.
The focus is from from Columbus to the confluence with the Missouri River at Plattsmouth.
