(Altoona, IA) -- Adventureland Resort is closing its Raging River ride. In a letter posted on the theme park's website, General Manager Bill Lentz said the closure will be permanent.
"The decision comes after months of examination of the ride, working closely with its manufacturer to identify what enhancements each would need to meet our operating standards," he wrote. "Based upon that review, the best path forward is to close Raging River, and focus on enhancing the Adventureland experience elsewhere."
The ride has been closed since July 2021 when a malfunction caused a raft to capsize, killing an 11-year-old boy and seriously hurting two of his family members. The boy's family is suing Adventureland for nearly $100 million.
