Iowans Bracing For Another Round Of Snow

(Des Moines, IA) -- Iowans are bracing for another round of potentially heavy snow. The National Weather Service says Winter Storm Warnings will be in effect for most of southern and east central Iowa from 9 p.m. Wednesday thru 6 p.m. Thursday. Much of southern Iowa could get 5-7 inches of snow, followed by strong winds, so blowing snow is expected to reduce visibility. Some of the heaviest totals are expected during the morning commute Thursday morning. Drivers should expect slick roads and poor visibility.

The NWS says winds will increase tonight and will persist Thursday. Consistent gusts of around 30 mph will be common for much of the state during this time. The result will be blowing and drifting snow. Blowing snow may reduce visibility and make travel more hazardous. Very cold wind chills mostly in the single digits above and below zero are expected tonight into Thursday
