(Rock Island, IL) -- The City of Rock Island is tabling discussions to demolish the old Firehouse No. 5 after community members raised concerns over destroying the historic building.
Rock Island City Council is considering a nearly $80,000 demolition contract.
The firehouse opened in 1915 but hasn't been used since the mid-70s.
The motion will be up for further discussion at the Council's last meeting in May.
