(Undated) -- Nebraska has some of the highest overall taxes in the country. That's according the the latest study by WalletHub, which says Nebraska has the 8th-highest taxes when considering state and local tax rates. WalletHub says state taxes in Nebraska are 22.17% higher than the average tax rate in the U.S. WalletHub says the state with the lowest taxes is Alaska and the state with the highest is Illinois.
