An Iowa Company Is Getting Funding To Produce Microchips

(Des Moines, IA) -- President Joe Biden said in his State of the Union address this year that he wanted more microchips to be produced in the United States.

Iowa will be part of that.

Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids will get $1.8 million from the Iowa Economic Development Authority to expand microchip production.

Collins Aerospace is also approved for $1.1 million from the City of Cedar Rapids.

They company plans to add space and equipment, and add 16 new employees to produce the chips.

Collins has more than 7,800 employees in Iowa.

The company will pay for most of the cost of the $22-Million dollar expansion itself.

Collins Aerospace is the largest employer in Cedar Rapids.
