(Des Moines, IA) -- The Iowa House is holding a public hearing Tuesday, April 3 at 9:30 a.m. on SF 494.
Under the proposal, residents would need to complete an asset test to get SNAP benefits. A family with more than $15,000 in assets would be removed from the program. The Legislative Services Agency says around 2,800 Iowans would lose benefits due to discrepancies.
To speak at the hearing, Iowans need to sign up on the Iowa Legislature's website and check-in 30 minutes before the event begins. Residents can also leave public comments.
