(Iowa) -- Both teens accused of killing Fairfield High School Spanish teacher Nohema Graber are pleading guilty to first degree murder.
Willard Miller and Jeremy Goodale changed their pleas to guilty this morning after taking plea deals. While the two teens ultimately pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, their accounts of the murder did not match up. During a hearing, Miller said it was Goodale who attacked Graber first while Miller acted as a lookout. In a separate hearing, Goodale says it was Miller who planned the murder, brought a bat and other items to the scene, and struck Graber first. Goodale said he later struck Graber after they had moved her off of the trail where Miller's initial attack occurred.
Prosecutors are recommending a sentence of 30 years to life with the chance of parole for Miller, and a sentence of 25 years to life in prison with the chance of parole for Goodale.
Miller and Goodale are accused of killing Graber over poor grades back in November 2021.
