The University of Nebraska Medical Center announces plans to raze three vacant properties near 44th and Leavenworth Streets.
UNMC bought the parcels on the north side of the street for possible future development.
They are at 4412 Leavenworth St., 4408 Leavenworth Street, and 4402 Leavenworth St.
Once cleared, the Med Center plans to put in green space and parking.
"Nebraska Medicine" also owns several of the vacant storefront properties on either side of "Barrett’s Barleycorn Pub & Grill" and "Castle Barrett’s," but there are no immediate plans to clear those.
For now, UNMC says they will make minor investments in them to stabilize and return the properties to use.
The work planned for these properties is not related to UNMC’s Saddle Creek Campus development site to the west.
