The Nebraska State Patrol says troopers arrest a Hastings, Nebraska man after he fled a traffic stop near Grand Island.
The Patrol says Wednesday evening, a trooper saw a Silverado speeding on U.S. Highway 34, just north of the I-80 Interchange in Grand Island.
During a traffic stop, a passenger ran from the scene, jumping over a fence, and running toward the Platte River.
After about 90 minutes, as back ups arrived, a trooper saw the suspect crawling across the south channel of the Platte River.
He was then taken into custody.
The Patrol says the passenger had provided false identification via a debit card during the initial traffic stop.
Investigators say 30 - year old Miguel Lopez was booked for criminal impersonation, obstructing a police officer, and criminal possession of a financial transaction device.
The NSP K9 Division and drone operators assisted.
