The Offutt - based U.S. Strategic Command concludes the exercise known as "Global Thunder 2023," which the command says "successfully tested and validated the nation’s nuclear command, control, and operational procedures."
The exercise ran for a week and involved more than 100,000 personnel from across the nuclear triad, including allies, focused on ensuring forces are ready to deter adversaries and, if necessary, use forces as directed by the President.
STRATCOM says planning for "Global Thunder" began more than a year ago and was not in response to any specific actions by any nation.
