(Des Moines, IA) -- Des Moines' Lauridsen Skate Park will host a charity skateboarding competition on Saturday.
The Grind for Life Series holds events across the country for skateboarders of all ages and skill levels. Saturday's event will be the first event held in Des Moines. The Grind For Life Organization raises funds for skaters who have been diagnosed with cancer and need help covering travel expenses for treatment. Participation is capped at 175 contestants, and interested skaters can register online for $50 or on the day of the event.
The Grind for Life Series event is free for spectators and open to the public. The event begins at 9:30am Saturday.
