NU President Ted Carter proposes 3.5% tuition increase

(Lincoln, NE) -- University of Nebraska students could have to pay more for tuition.

On Wednesday, University of Nebraska System President Ted Carter presented NU Regents with a plan for a 3.5% tuition increase for the upcoming school year. The 3.5% increase would mean an extra $9 per credit hour for UNL students and an increase of $8 per credit hour for UNO students.

The University system is facing an estimated $84 million budget shortfall over the next two years. The board of regents will take up budget issues June 22nd.
