(Ankeny, IA) -- The Ankeny Fire Department says a lightning strike sparked a house fire this (Thursday) morning. Crews were called to 1003 NE Williamsburg CT after 7 a.m. and arrived to find fire and thick smoke in the garage and attic. Crews were able to put out the fire quickly. The homeowner and two children were home at the time but were able to escape without injury.
Ankeny was assisted by crews from Altoona, Bondurant, Johnston-Grimes, and Polk City fire departments.
