(Iowa City, Iowa) -- The University of Iowa names an interim director of athletics.
Deputy Director of Athletics Beth Goetz will serve as the university's interim athletic director starting August 1st. Goetz joined the Iowa athletics department staff in 2022. Current athletic director Gary Barta announced his retirement on May 26th after 17 years. Goetz will serve as interim athletic director as a national search for a permanent replacement is conducted, which is planned for sometime early next year.
