(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Fireworks sales are starting up in Cedar Rapids and the city is reminding residents they aren't legal to use in city limits.
The only exception to the ordinance is on Independence Day, and the days surrounding the holiday.
The city says there's an uptick in fires during this time of year due to the illegal use of fireworks.
Cedar Rapids Police Department asks those using fireworks to do so in legal zones outside of the city.
