(Ames, IA) -- Fire caused damage to a duplex in Ames Wednesday night. Ames fire crews were called to 4015 Quebec Street around 10:25 p.m. and found smoke coming from the single-story duplex with flames visible through a basement window.
Firefighters entered the structure and confirmed all occupants on both sides of the duplex had made it out safely. Crews contained the fire to the basement and put it out quickly.
The Fire Department says one person was home at the time of the fire and safely made it out thanks to working smoke detectors.
