(Des Moines, IA) -- A man is now charged with arson in a Des Moines church fire this week.
The Perfecting Holiness Temple on 13th Street was heavily damaged by fire on Monday afternoon.
Fire crews responded to the blaze a little after 3 p.m.
It didn't take long after the fire was put out for local investigators to find evidence it was set intentionally.
Witnesses also said they had seen a man behaving suspiciously nearby.
Officers caught up with 27-year-old Emmanuel Philpot, who is now jailed in Polk County, facing charges of first degree arson.
Investigators say it's still not clear exactly how the fire was started.
