(Franklin County, IA) -- There are new details about a deadly northern Iowa shooting June 20th. Investigators with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation say 30-year-old Matt Davis had been arguing with his family who locked themselves inside a home in Sheffield and called 9-1-1. Deputies ordered to drop the gun, but he refused and walked toward them, pointing the gun at passing vehicles and then deputies. Deputies shot Davis, hitting him once. Medical personnel responded but Davis died at the scene.

The Iowa DCI says the weapon Davis pointed at deputies was determined to be a pellet gun. The incident was captured on deputies’ body cameras. The matter will be forwarded to the Franklin County Attorney’s Office for review.
