(Springfield, IL) -- Water bottle filling stations will soon be required in public buildings in Illinois.

The new law, which has been approved by both the state House and Senate, will take effect on January 1st.

Buildings with an occupancy of over 100 people and 5,000 square feet or larger will have to make the change.

This comes in addition to an existing state law requiring water fountains in public buildings throughout the state.
