The National Weather Service says the Heat Advisory for the Omaha/Council Bluffs region will now run until nine p.m. Friday evening with heat index values up to 107 expected.
The advisory was originally in effect until Thursday evening.
The advisory is for portions of east central, southeast, and northeast Nebraska, and it includes Omaha/Council Bluffs and Lincoln.
Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat-related illnesses.
