(Rock Island, IL) -- Some Quad Cities students will start the school year this week. The first day of school for the Rock Island-Milan District is Thursday. United Township students will start Thursday too, with the exception of UT freshman who start a day early on Wednesday. Rock Island-Milan students who haven't registered for the school year yet can do so on the first day. The district expects 43-hundred registered students to attend this year. Davenport schools start August 23rd. Bettendorf students return August 25th
