Pillen Announces Return Date for Nebraska Guard Soldiers Deployed to Border

(Lincoln, NE) -- Governor Jim Pillen is announcing that the 61 Nebraska National Guard Soldiers deployed to the southern U.S. border with Mexico will return on Friday, September 1st. According to a press release, the troops have been deployed since August 2nd. The Governor was able to personally visit the Nebraska Soldiers last Monday during a trip to the border in Texas.

Nebraska is one of 14 states sending troops and other resources to support Operation Lone Star. The other states are Arkansas, Florida, Iowa, Idaho, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Texas. It came after a letter sent in May by Texas Governor Greg Abbott to governors across the U.S. requesting assistance after the federal government decided to end Title 42.
