(Iowa City, IA) -- An Iowa City resident is recovering from an apartment fire.
At around 4:15 a.m. Labor Day, firefighters responded to a building 1229 on Shannon Drive to see smoke coming out from the 3rd floor.
They managed to rescue one person who was sent to the hospital to be treated.
Firefighters say the apartment's sprinkler system extinguished the fire and alerted residents on the emergency.
Fire damages are estimated at $80,000.
The Iowa City Fire Marshal's Office says they are continuing to investigate.
