(Undated) -- Gas prices in Iowa rose about 14 cents overnight. Triple-A Iowa says the statewide average for regular unleaded gasoline in Iowa is $3.75 per gallon. Gas is most expensive in northeast Iowa, where prices have topped $4 per gallon. Prices are lower in southwest Iowa.

Brian Ortner of Triple-A says there are three factors in the increase: OPEC's decision to cut production for the rest of the year, higher crude oil prices, and scheduled maintenance at refineries at different locations in the U.S. He says the impact from scheduled maintenance should be short-lived, but it's unclear as to when gas prices might fall. He says typically gas prices are lower in the fall as demand from the summer travel season declines.
